Metabolites Time Course

Cells were grown in Hayflick rich medium and samples taken at indicated timepoints. Protein amount was determined using the BCA protein assay kit (Thermo Scientifc). pH was measured indirectly by comparing the change of the color indicator in the growth medium to a standard curve prepared with identical growth medium and titrated with known amounts of lactic acid. Concentrations of growth medium metabolites were determined using commercially available kits (glucose and lactic acid from BioVision, actetic acid and ethanol from Megazyme) essentially following the protocols provided by the manufacturer.
